Not far from Termez, there is the city of Denau. It is located in the picturesque resort area of Surkhandarya region. One of the most famous tourist attractions in Uzbekistan, Sangardak Falls is rightfully considered to be most interesting. It is located in the gorge of the same name. This is a section of the Sangardakdarya River that flows in those surroundings. The river itself, as befits its mountain sisters, cannot boast of depth, however, the rapid current daily carries tons of water to the villages. The waterfall is located on one of the sections of the river. Its height, according to some sources, reaches 150 meters. This is one of the highest waterfalls in Uzbekistan.
Not only tourists, but also locals admire the view of Sangardak Falls. Already on the way to it, from afar, the sound of water is heard and at times a misty cloud erupts from the spray, which, being poured in the rays of the sun, dissolves in the hot air. In summer it is especially pleasant to get to this place. The road along the scorched paths winding between the rocks, the scorching sun, all this instantly fades into the background, you just have to approach the waterfall.
A myriad of splashes, diamond dust, sweep through the air, plunging into the atmosphere of a fantastic place. The noise of the water drowns out the sounds around, in this place it is quite difficult to communicate with each other, and this is not necessary. People freeze under the influence of this beauty and can enjoy the view, air, sounds for a long time. It seems that the waterfall tells its story, centuries-long. Changed events, rulers, people, this waterfall was seen by both Roman warriors and Arab. Each pebble is saturated with history.
In Scandinavian countries, waterfalls are especially revered. People consider them a kind of portal, the gateway to Paradise. It is quite possible that travelers brought some of this belief to Sangardak, since next to the waterfall you can find many shreds of clothes tied to stones and trees. People believe that it is only necessary to make a wish, and if you add something in return for a waterfall, it will certainly come true.
