The monumental complex "Courage" is devoted to events that happened almost half-century ago which left a deep print in the history of Tashkent.
On a granite podium is located a cube from black labradorite, on one of the sides has an engraved date: 26 April 1966, and on another side is pictures clocks which arrows indicate time – 5 hours of 24 minutes is specified is represented. At this time in the city, there was an earthquake by force of 8,3 points. Therefore in the monument, the cube is split by a crack symbolizing a break of the earth which proceeds to bottom of a bronze sculpture on which is represented a woman who clasped a child to her breast, and also a man who encloses with his breast from elements blow. Relief compositions which tell a story about the restoration of Tashkent city serve as a background for this monument.
That terrible day the earth went underfoot, people in haste left the houses. The epicenter of the earthquake was about ten kilometers under the central streets of Tashkent, approximately there in ten years was erected a monument "Courage".
Tashkent people bravely met blows of this earthquake. After days, they have already moved in big tents stretched on city streets.
To restore Tashkent after that terrible destructive event had arrived builders of all republics of the USSR. In a short period of time have been restored destroyed part of a city and appeared a new block of flats.
Today the monument "Courage" is an embodiment of well-being and calmness in houses.
In memory of those hard days, inhabitants and visitors of capital come there to worship courage of those people whose strong hands restored Tashkent city.
